Condition Monitoring in Diesel Engines for Cold Test Applications
نویسنده
چکیده
In this paper the characteristics of the cold test technology will be described and a monitoring method for quality tests of diesel engines at the end of assembly line will be considered. A variety of different techniques for processing vibration signals has been proposed by many researchers but only a few applications in cold test monitoring exist. The determination of reliable threshold values for pass/fail decision through the calculation of global parameters which describe the PDF (Probability Density Function) of the vibration signal in the time domain is the goal of this work. Experiments on normal and faulty engines were carried out in order to develop this approach. In particular, eight different faults were artificially introduced and the influence of the operational speed during tests is investigated. Furthermore, a comparison between measurements concerning vibrations, pressure and torque is shown and discussed.

Studies of MISiC-FET sensors for car exhaust gas monitoring
The increasing size of the car fleet makes it important to find ways of lowering the amounts of pollutants from each individual diesel or gasoline engine to almost zero levels. The pollutants from these engines predominantly originate from emissions at cold start, in the case when gasoline is utilized, and high NOx emissions and particulates from diesel engines. The cold start emissions from ga...
متن کاملOn-line Condition Monitoring and Remote Fault Diagnosis for Marine Diesel Engines Using Tribological Information
Literature review indicates that a large amount of failures are caused by abnormal wear of the diesel engine components. It is therefore essential to monitor the engine condition using the tribological information. Although the wear debris analysis has been proven to be effective for condition monitoring and fault diagnosis (CMFD) of diesel engines, limited work has been done to address the rem...

This paper presents the basic characteristics of a prototype fuzzy expert system for condition monitoring applications, in particular, oil analysis in Diesel engines. The system allows for reasoning under absent or imprecise measurements, providing with an interval-valued diagnostic of the suspected severity of a particular fault. A set of so-called metarules complements the basic fault diction...
متن کاملReal-time Inspection and Monitoring of Marine Diesel Engine Mechanical Parts by Computer Vision
Marine diesel engines’ parts are under various loads, usually time-varying, during their normal operation. This causes complex dynamical state of stress, and can produce unwanted high deformations and degradation of material, give a rise to critical crack growth and, finally, to failure of one or more of the engine parts.. The effect is further emphasized by marine atmosphere. This paper propos...
